As the Licensed Optical Store Manager, you will lead a high performing retail team while serving as the store’s licensed optical expert. This role combines full ownership of the store business, people, customer experience, and operations with the specialized optical expertise required to support prescription eyewear, dispensing, fitting, and compliance.

 

You will be responsible for creating a culture of exceptional service, developing and inspiring talent, driving sales and conversion, and ensuring the highest standards of optical quality and regulatory compliance. As both a people leader and optical authority, you will help bring together premium retail, innovative technology, and personalized eyewear solutions to create a differentiated Meta Lab experience.

Minimum Pay

USD $85,000.00/Yr.

Maximum Pay

USD $90,000.00/Yr.

Additional Compensation

Bonus potential based on store performance and achievement of established business KPIs.

What You'll Do

Lead the Business and Team

  • Own the overall performance of the store, including customer experience, sales, conversion, staffing, operations, inventory, and team development
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, develop, and retain high potential talent
  • Build a high performance culture rooted in accountability, collaboration, customer obsession, and continuous development
  • Coach and mentor team members through consistent feedback, recognition, performance management, and individualized development
  • Establish clear expectations and ensure the team consistently delivers against Meta Lab standards
  • Lead by example on the sales floor and maintain a strong leadership presence during key customer and business periods
  • Celebrate wins, recognize performance, and create an inclusive and engaging team culture

Drive Customer Experience and Sales

  • Deliver immersive product demonstrations and elevate every customer interaction into a premium Meta branded experience
  • Build authentic, long term customer relationships through personalized service and follow up
  • Drive sales, conversion, customer satisfaction, and other key performance indicators
  • Analyze store performance, traffic, customer behaviors, and business trends to identify opportunities and adjust strategies
  • Guide customers in selecting frames and lenses based on lifestyle, prescription needs, technology, and personal style
  • Engage in the sale, facilitation of sale, fitting, adjustment, and dispensing of prescription and non prescription eyewear
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Meta wearable and mixed reality products and confidently simplify complex technology for customers

Lead Optical Excellence

  • Serve as the store’s licensed optical expert and ensure optical services are delivered accurately, professionally, and in accordance with all applicable requirements
  • Perform precise optical measurements, fittings, adjustments, and dispensing to ensure exceptional eyewear accuracy and comfort
  • Provide expertise in prescription troubleshooting, frame selection, lens technology, and optical solutions
  • Act as a liaison with customers’ optometrists when necessary to support prescription accuracy and customer care
  • Maintain current knowledge of optical innovations, lens technologies, eyewear trends, and applicable regulations
  • Train and coach the broader retail team on optical products, customer conversations, and appropriate escalation to licensed optical professionals
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable state laws, licensing requirements, optical standards, and company policies
  • Maintain strict compliance with applicable privacy requirements surrounding prescriptions and personally identifiable customer information
  • Ensure required optical credentials and licenses are current and displayed as required by applicable law

Own Operational Excellence

  • Maintain operational excellence across scheduling, payroll, inventory, reporting, visual presentation, and store standards
  • Manage inventory with accuracy and accountability, including prescription and non prescription eyewear
  • Ensure the sales floor, optical areas, stock areas, demonstration products, and customer facing spaces consistently meet brand standards
  • Maintain accurate business reporting and use performance data to identify trends and opportunities
  • Partner effectively with cross functional teams and represent the Meta brand professionally in a high visibility retail environment

What You'll Bring

Experience and Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Active American Board of Opticianry (ABO) certification required
  • Active state optical license or additional credentials where required by applicable state law
  • Ability to produce and display required optical credentials on site
  • 3+ years of retail leadership experience, preferably within premium, luxury, optical, consumer electronics, or experiential retail
  • 2+ years of optical sales, dispensing, or customer service experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and driving measurable sales and customer experience results

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong knowledge of optical theory, practices, prescription eyewear, lens technologies, fitting, and dispensing
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, motivate, and develop high performing teams
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to interpret sales, conversion, traffic, staffing, and operational performance

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and other peak retail periods as business needs require

  • Engage with customers while talking, standing, walking, and conducting product demonstrations
  • Perform repetitive use of hands, arms, and fine motor skills associated with product demonstrations, eyewear fittings, measurements, and adjustments
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Maintain continuous hand and eye coordination and fine manipulation
  • Work comfortably in a variety of lighting conditions, including occasional flashing or contrasting light patterns
